Welcome the first installment of Thirsty Thursday with The BOB!
Every Thursday we will be highlighting a beer, brewery, or tap house in the Vancouver area, along with a previous BOB podcast episode that corresponds with it. The goal of The BOB Thirsty Thursday is to spread some positive vibes and light to the people in the community, and sharing a couple of things things that make Vancouver great, particularly Craft Beer and Small Businesses. We can’t wait to share our experiences.
This week on the second biggest podcast in the Pacific Northwest behind only The Sasquatch Hunters, we welcome back esteemed Business Over Beer alumni, Bill Cohen of Cohen Caregiving Support Consultants, and Joey Yourchek of Elfin Services. Bill provides support to family caregivers of patients with Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia and Elfin Services is a professional caregiving service offering, among other things, in home care to patients with Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia. Alzheimer’s Disease remains a top 5 cause of death in the United States with no cure and no treatment, and mental health is becoming an increasingly more important issue for our overall health and wellness, especially in the time of COVID-19.
The goal of this Business Over Beer episode is to increase awareness of the seriousness of Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia and to keep mental health at the the forefront of health and wellness conversations. But we still manage to have a good time, even talking about heavy topics like this, and with Bill and Joey, it’s hard not to have a good time.
Business Over Beer will be donating a portion of our October Patreon proceeds to help fight Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia.
I know you may be thinking “why are you soliciting my money for Patreon, what could be so tough about making a podcast”, or “podcasting sure looks like a fun hobby”, or specifically in our case, “isn’t it just 3 guys sitting around drinking and shooting the bull with your friends”.
After doing Business Over Beer for almost 2 years, we are here to tell you that there is way more that goes into producing a podcast than you may realize.
This week on Business Over Beer, the premier small business podcast and the second biggest podcast in the Pacific Northwest behind only the Sasquatch Hunters, we celebrate our 1 Year Anniversary, recorded at Hopworks Urban Brewery, the Birthplace of Business Over Beer, with Founder and Head Brewmaster, Christian Ettinger.
Christian has been brewing beer for over 25 years and first experienced the brewpub as the center of the community while living abroad in Cologne Germany. Upon returning to the U.S., as the craft beer scene was exploding here in the Pacific Northwest, Christian knew by the age of 19 that he wanted to start this business. Combining the European style brewpub experience with the more modern craft brewing approach, Hopworks Urban Brewery opened in Portland, OR in 2007, brewing some of the best craft beer in the country. We already knew going into this episode that we loved Hopworks, and we were pleasantly surprised that Christian shares our love of quoting Seinfeld and movies, hope you have as much fun listening as we did recording.
This week Business Over Beer, the best small business podcast for small business owners, we welcome Life & Business Strategist, Lindsey T. H. Jackson. She shares how she started a dance and theatre troupe in Galway Ireland, which became a catapult for everything she’s doing now as CEO of LTHJ Global, an organization committed to creating tools, resources and programs around the limitations that hold us back from reaching our highest potential as individuals and in our school systems, workplaces and community groups.
And of course we enjoy more of the best craft beer.
This week on the Business Over Beer Podcast, we welcome The Vibesmith, Ryan Reed, founder of HAFLife Entertainment, an independent record label and entertainment company focused on music, film, live events and lifestyle. Ryan shares with us that writing poetry at a young age combined with his love of hip hop turned into a love of putting words to rhythm and music and ultimately into an entrepreneur with a business focused on Hope, Ambition, & Fortitude.
And of course, we enjoy some of the best craft beer.
