#42. Old school meets new school with Michelle & Mariah Martinez #GangstasOfHazelDell
This week on the second biggest podcast in the Pacific Northwest behind only the Sasquatch Hunters, we welcome business partners, and sisters, Michelle and Mariah Martinez of The M Agency. Their 15 year age difference led them down very different paths, both personally and professionally, and when their paths brought them back together, they began building a business partnership that packs an incredible 1-2 punch, drawing on their unique experiences to serve their clients and the community.
Prost!
In this episode:
When you you’re young, go do what you got to do so you don’t regret anything when you’re older.
Do not just provide a service, be OF service.
Be part of your client’s team, help and support them broadly. It’s not just a one way relationship.
Be picky with who you work with.
Business partnership is like a marriage, respect each other’s strengths, make sure values are aligned and that you are working toward the same goal
Growing your business doesn’t always mean adding things on, sometimes it’s about getting more efficient and allocating your resources properly.
Schlitz: I wish I wouldn’t have smelled it first.
What you learn traveling abroad you could never learn in a classroom.
In other countries, business is built on relationships and personal trust, you need need to be able to break bread together.
In a partnership, understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses. There is power in allowing each person to shine at what they do best instead of trying to get better at what the other is already great at.
There’s no work life balance, especially if you’re an entrepreneur, it’s just life.
People crave authenticity, you should always try to be yourself wherever you are. If we’re fun people, we should be fun people at work too.
