Thirsty Thursday with The BOB at Brothers Cascadia Brewing
Thirsty Thursday at Brothers Cascadia
These Thirsty Thursday spotlights have been an absolute blast. How could it not be, right? Going to local Breweries and Tap Houses with family and friends, sitting and talking about life, business, sports and adventures in home schooling. Heck, we even throw in a little politics here and there.
This week was no exception for our visit to Brothers Cascadia Brewing in the Hazel Dell neighborhood, north of downtown Vancouver, WA. Brothers Cascadia Brewing has some of the best craft beer in the Vancouver area, and maybe on the whole country. They really stand out in a highly ambitious Pacific Northwest brewery scene. Ben and “The Gangsta of Hazel Dell” himself, Jason Knopp, in all his gangsta-ness, were joined by the Area Director of BeLocal, and long time friend of The BOB, Valerie Hooks.
Upon Arrival, Ben was immediately reminded why this place is one of his favs. Walking through the parking lot, you are greeted with a barrage of delicious food being made for the customers inside. The woodfire pizza from Hungry Sasquatch Pizza Cart is enough to get your mouth watering. Pro tip: Do NOT eat before showing up here!
The olfactory senses will not have time to take a break because on the inside is that unmistakable smell of beer brewing, a very comforting aroma on a damp and rainy Pacific Northwest Fall day. And this place is not just a treat for your sense of smell, the badass record collection was a sight for sore eyes, and ears. It’s obvious that the peeps at Brothers Cascadia understand that records are the best way to listen to music. Sorry digital folks, it’s true.
Round 1
Ben started out his visit ordering a favorite of his, You Like ‘A Da Juice Hazy IPA. This New England style IPA is cloudy, lush, and extremely refreshing. Val had Tieton Cider Works Bourbon Barrel Peach Cider, while Knopp had the Helles Lager, A traditional light lager hailing from Munich Germany.
The Food
Speaking of the food trucks, Val ordered the Chicken with Peanut Sauce Bowl from The Mighty Bowl, located right outside the brewery. It looked BOMB, and Val said it very much was.
The Final Round
Before calling it a night, Ben grabbed himself another one of his favorites from Brothers Cascadia: This Way IPA. This beer is a delicious, well balanced IPA that will make you savor every sip.
Before leaving, we promised ourselves not to wait so long to return, and next time we’ll definitely bring the entire family. Hope to see you all there too!
